GoHighLevel: create an API token and connect Stripe

How to create a Private Integration token, share it safely, and connect Stripe under Payments.

A Private Integration token is the safe way to give us an API key. You choose what it can see, and you can change or delete it any time. Do it once per location.

Part 1: create the token

  1. Log in to GoHighLevel (on a phone use the desktop view, see the GoHighLevel guide) and pick the right location.
  2. Click Settings, then Private Integrations.

  3. Click Create new Integration.
  4. Name: MAD Monkey Media. Description: MAD Biz App. Click Next.

  5. Check the permissions (scopes) we listed in our message. If we did not list any, check Contacts, Conversations, Conversation Messages, Opportunities, Calendars, and Workflows (read only).

  6. Click Create and copy the token. It is shown only once.

How to send us the token safely: do not email, text, Messenger or group-chat it. Use the secure file upload link we send you (paste the token in a note and upload it), or call us at (253) 459-5439 and read it to us.

You can change the permissions, rotate the token, or delete it any time from the 3-dot menu in Private Integrations.

No Private Integrations option? It may need to be turned on in Labs, or your agency may have it off. Call us, or add us as a user and we will do it.

Part 2: connect Stripe to take payments

  1. In the right location click Payments, then the Integrations tab.

  2. On Stripe click Connect. It is also under Settings, Integrations.
  3. Log in to Stripe or create an account. Enter your business and bank details directly in Stripe.

  4. When you finish you come back to GoHighLevel. Check that Stripe shows Connected.
